This site is free and always will be. There are no ads, nothing for sale, and no paywall. It is a personal project, paid for out of one person's pocket, and it exists because a dad wanted to argue this topic honestly with his son.

The pledge that comes with it

No money is accepted from data center operators, utilities, industry groups, political action committees, campaigns, or advocacy organizations on any side of this debate. Not now, not quietly, not ever.

That is the whole point. This site grades every source by who paid for it, so it would be worthless if you could not ask the same question about the site itself. If that ever changes, this page will say so before it happens, not after.

What your money actually does

It covers the server, the domain, and the daily research run that keeps the map, the numbers and the updates current. That is the entire budget. Nobody is paid, including the person who built it.

The honest fine print

  • This is not a nonprofit, so your contribution is not tax deductible.
  • It buys nothing, including influence, a mention, a link, or any say in what the site covers.
  • It is voluntary and generally non-refundable. The terms and disclaimer cover the details.
  • Nothing here is behind it. Every page, the map, the data and the handbook stay free whether anyone gives or not.

Free ways to help that matter just as much

If money is not the right thing for you right now, these genuinely help more than a small donation does:

  • Send a correction. If a number is stale or a source is misread, tell us through the contact form. Corrections are logged publicly in the change log.
  • Send it to someone arguing about this. A county board meeting, a family group chat, a debate team. That is what it is for.
  • Take the poll. The one question and a short quiz builds a picture of where readers actually stand.
