The Data Center Debate

Interactive map

Where the data centers are, and where the fights are

1,599 sites and projects. Existing facilities come from public map data (OpenStreetMap), which is community-maintained and incomplete. Projects under construction, proposed, or blocked are curated from news reports and county records, each with a source. Updated daily.

Read the map honestly. A dot means a project was reported, not that a claim about it is true. Click a dot for the source. Existing facilities from public map data are placed at the building; map tiles are loaded from Esri, which sees your address like any web server (see privacy); curated projects are placed at the site when public, otherwise at the town center. Missing something? The daily update adds new projects as they are reported; corrections are listed on the about page.
